Core Orchards Detroit
Grosse Pointe, Michigan
Core Orchards Detroit is a u-pick apple orchard on Detroit's east side, developed by the Grosse Pointe Park-based nonprofit Wolverine Human Services as the city's first u-pick apple orchard. More than 100 volunteers planted 300 Honeycrisp apple trees on previously vacant land. Visitors can pick their own apples at the orchard, which was created to offer fresh, affordable produce to the surrounding community.
