Philip Orchards is a pick-your-own apple and pear orchard in the Hudson Valley at Claverack, NY. Visitors check in for an orchard map and half-bushel bags (free of charge), can drive through to park near picking areas, and pick their own fruit. Picking covers about two dozen apple varieties (including Cortland, Empire, Gala, Honey Crisp, Macoun, McIntosh, Mutsu and Northern Spy) and pears (D'Anjou, Bartlett, Bosc, Harrow Sweet and Seckel). Small picnics are welcome and portable restrooms are on site. Payment is cash or checks only; no credit cards.
